The Georgia Falconry Association will be manning exhibits at JAKES Day at both the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 and the Smithgall Woods Conservation Area on Saturday, May 21, 2011. We need several falconers with birds on hand to meet the public and answer questions. For the Charlie Elliott event, you need to be there in time to be set up by 9:30 AM. For the Smithgall event, plans are to meet at the Huddle House in Helen at 8 AM for breakfast. If you can't make it for breakfast you will need to arrive in time to be set up no later than 9:30 AM.

They are expecting a good number at both events and this is an excellent opportunity to educate the public about falconry.
If you can participate at Charlie Elliott, please email Alan (Smokey) Drury or call him at 678-908-4959. If you can participate at Smithgall Woods, please email Buster Brown or call him at (706) 219-1712 (home), (404) 538-4355 (cell).

Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center is located at 543 Elliott Trail in Mansfield, GA. From Atlanta, take I-20 eastbound to Exit 98 (Hwy. 11, Monroe-Monticello). Turn right and continue south about 12 miles on Hwy. 11, crossing Hwy. 278 and Hwy. 142. The main entrance to Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (Marben Farm Road) is about 3 miles south of Mansfield on the left.

Smithgall Woods is located at 61 Tsalaki Trail in Helen, GA. on Ga. Hwy. 75-Alternate, 3 miles west of Helen, just south of the Richard B. Russell Scenic Hwy. (Ga. Hwy. 348).
