| The
Georgia Falconry Association had exhibits
at JAKES Day at both the Smithgall Woods Conservation
Area on Saturday, May 9, 2009 and at the Charlie Elliott
Wildlife Center on Saturday, May 16th, 2009. Several
GFA members were on hand at both events. According to
Buster Brown, over 400 people attended
at Smithgall Woods. This
was excellent
considering
the
cloudy
and wet weather. Thanks to Buster, Dennis and Donna Blanton
and Greg Ames for representing us.
Smokey
Drury reports that there were over 1700 people in
attendance at Charlie Elliott. Thanks to Smokey, Thom
and Lara Bardegon, Byron and Jake Hicks, Greg Ames
and Mike and Dana Bledsoe for helping out at this event.
A special word of appreciation goes out to the Bledsoes
for the outstanding booth display they created for
us.(See
1st and 2nd pictures below). The eagle and the owls
in the pictures were supplied by Pete Griffith, wildlife
biologist
with DNR at Charlie Elliott.
After
the event, Smokey released his bird Katy. (See last 2
pictures).
